Providing administrative services for the Institute’s Leadership, researchers and the Institute as a whole.

Managing and organizing all research activities of the Institute including developing, ratifying and organizing the implementation of research plans; supervising and examining the implementation; organizing evaluation and approval of programs and projects;  managing PhD. Training program in Cultural Anthropology and short training courses for capacity building.

Undertaking theoretical and methodological researches on human rights to provide theoretical foundations for building a viewpoint system  of human rights in Vietnam.

Undertaking research on the traditional and modern values and personality of Vietnamese people; undertaking research on values changes, orientation system, personality structure (demand, motivation, objectives and activities) of Vietnamese people in the period of  transition.

Undertaking studies on social and cultural characteristics of Vietnamese people: tradition and modernity; the relations between human and culture in various periods of social development; similarities and differences between the East and the West in the personality culture.

Undertaking researches on human and human resources development to serve the industrialization and modernization of the country; providing information for development of National Human Development Report; cooperating with relevant agencies in collecting, processing and analyzing human development indicators, laying foundation for making recommendations to improve HDI of Vietnam in general and provinces in particular.

Undertaking theoretical and methodological researches; providing theoretical and methodological foundations for others departments and contributing to development of theoretical foundation for human studies in Vietnam
