Ph.D. Training Programme on Cultural Anthropology

The Institute of Human Studies was assigned by the Prime Minister to provide Ph.D. Program on Cultural Anthropology, Code 62316501, under the Decision No. 90/2005/QD-TTg dated 29 April 2005 and Decision No. 2571/ QD-BGD&DT dated 13 May 2005 of the Ministry of Education and Training. This is the first organization in Vietnam having the Ph.D. training program on Cultural Anthropology. In 2006, The Institute of Human Studies has recruited students for the first training course for 2006 - 2010.

Training program

The training program of The Institute of Human Studies aims to provide the society with highly professional experts who can conduct studies independently with thorough and updated knowledge on cultural anthropology that meets the country’s needs for development in the field such as:

  • Studying human, cultural and human resources issues in the Scientific, Social and Humanities agencies;
  • Providing training and training consultancy for universities which have social sciences and humanities departments, teacher training universities, management colleges, etc;
  • Providing consultancy on organization, personnel and management in economic management agencies, production and business enterprises;
  • Providing consultancy on socio-economic development policies for policy making agencies, executive bodies and social organizations;
  • Designing programs and projects relating to human and culture,  community development and investment projects, culture preservation and exhibition, social development in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country.

During the training period, students will be able :

  • To learn and exchange with national and foreign experts who have many year experience and are very enthusiastic in social sciences and humanities;
  • To access a variable range of books, newspapers and magazines in both Vietnamese and foreign languages in the library; to use the available technological instruments for thesis writing;
  • To take part in the Institute’s professional activities including interpreting, translating, and participating in the Institute’s projects and national and also international cooperation activities;
  • To participate in scientific conferences and seminars, and write paper for the Institute’s yearbook and Journal “Human Studies”.

Procedures

Candidates: Masters of anthropology, ethnology, sociology and culturology who meet current requirements set up by the Ministry of Education and Training can participate in the entrance examination for the cultural anthropology Ph.D. training course
